Duke of Edinburgh Trip

The Duke of Edinburgh camping trip to Thumb Rock was a transformative experience for 43 students, who had the chance to develop important life skills outside the classroom.

Students learned to cook, pack efficiently, master camping skills and became self-sufficient in the outdoors. Demonstrating newfound knowledge, the students undertook a challenging 16 km walk on both days of the trip, fostering teamwork, leadership and a deepened care and appreciation for the environment. These experiential trips contribute significantly to character development, offering practical lessons that complement academic pursuits.

From cultivating resilience during long hikes to embracing teamwork in setting up camp, these adventures enrich students’ lives with skills that extend far beyond textbooks, preparing them for the diverse challenges of the future.

Thanks to Hema Kosandar, Rachel Gray, Tania Schnetler, David Gibson, Judy Menil and the two parents that accompanied our students on the adventure.
