Expanding Horizons at ISG Jubail Where Compassion in Action Begins at Home

This week, ISG Jubail is proud to share a truly heartwarming initiative led by our school's Compassion Club: the Expanding Horizons project. Rooted in the belief that opportunity should begin at home, the vision behind this project is to offer access to creative learning experiences for those who may not have had the chance to explore their hidden talents. Inspired by empathy and inclusion, the students began this journey right here in our school by inviting members of our custodial team —often the unsung heroes of our daily environment— to participate in learning new artistic skills.

One of the most touching parts of this project was offering piano lessons to our custodians. Many of them expressed a lifelong desire to learn music but had never been given the opportunity. To everyone's amazement and joy, several of them displayed an innate musical ability, quickly grasping notes and confidently playing pieces on their own after just a few sessions. The sight of their smiling eyes and full hearts filled the room with warmth, making it clear that this project is not just about skills, it’s about restoring dreams.

In addition to music, the project also introduced painting sessions. It was incredible to watch vibrant artistic voices emerge, with several custodians channeling their inner Picassos and expressing themselves freely on canvas. Their enthusiasm and talent reminded us all that creativity knows no age or profession. As students and custodians shared moments of learning and laughter, a beautiful sense of community grew stronger.

Looking ahead, Expanding Horizons aims to grow beyond music and painting. The Compassion Club envisions equipping our custodial staff with practical skills that could help them bring joy and therapeutic value to their daily lives. Whether it’s art, music or new trades, this initiative stands as a reminder that education and compassion go hand in hand and that expanding someone’s horizon often begins with simply believing in their potential.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Madiha Qamar and the Compassion Club students for leading with empathy and inspiring change through the Expanding Horizons project. Your kindness has brought joy, dignity and creativity to our community.

This inspiring spirit of compassion was also carried beyond our school walls during a recent student conference. The event brought together students from across the ISG network to collaborate, share their voices and celebrate the power of compassion in action. Representing ISG Jubail with pride, our student ambassadors contributed meaningfully to discussions, connected with peers, and explored what it means to lead with empathy and purpose.

Our students engaged in sessions focused on "expanding horizons,  helping hands and kindness". They took part in thoughtful conversations around building more inclusive school communities through feedback, club engagement and purposeful action planning.

The experience was a powerful reminder of the strength within our ISG community and of our shared commitment to creating schools that are caring, connected and deeply rooted in compassion.
