The ISG Dammam middle school elective speech and debate classes ended the semester with a debate competition on the topic: Children below the age of 16 should not be allowed to have social media accounts.
It was wonderful to see how these young learners have developed into confident debaters. Students were engaged and excited to debate and they effectively utilized credible sources and demonstrated a strong understanding of the topic, along with impressive delivery techniques.
Students were judged by a panel of teachers and a winner was announced at the end of the class period. One student reported: “The opportunity helped me to improve my presentation skills” and another reported: “Before, I was shy and now I am confident. It has changed me a lot.”
Speech and Debate is one of the many elective classes offered to students in the middle school at ISG Dammam. The skills learned in this class are swiftly and seamlessly transferred into other classes including science, social studies and english.
