ISG Dammam Middle School Debate Team Run The Voice for the Right Choice Forum

On Monday, December 11, our middle school Debate Team put their preparation to the test in the Voices for the Right Choice Forum. 

The forum allowed our debate team students to present their well researched arguments for or against a variety of subjects. Students visited different debate stalls and engaged with the debate team members on topics as diverse as the influence of video games on aggressive behavior, the benefits of standardized testing and social media's disruption on human interactions.

The debate team students, trained by Ms. Nadia Iqbal, learned to engage in new ideas with their peers, learned the importance of research and learned the impact of critical thinking and discussion.

Participating in debates equips students with invaluable skills, honing their critical thinking, research and public speaking abilities.  Engaging in structured argumentation not only deepens their understanding of various subjects but also cultivates effective communication.  Debates foster confidence as students articulate and defend their viewpoints preparing them for future academic and professional challenges.  Moreover the collaborative nature of debate nurtures teamwork, enhancing interpersonal skills.  The benefits extend beyond academics as debates empower students to become informed, articulate individuals, capable of navigating complex discussions and contributing meaningfully to society.
