ISG Dammam Swimmers Make Waves at ISG Tryouts

Last week was one that many of us at ISG Dammam will never forget. A group of our students made their way to the Dhahran campus to take part in a very special event featuring Olympic gold medalist and world record-breaking swimmer Adam Peaty. For those of us who have grown up following his achievements, the chance to meet him in person and even step into the water under his guidance was something we could only have dreamed about before.

The tryouts were held in the Dhahran swimming pool, and the atmosphere was filled with energy and excitement. Representing ISG Dammam, students felt proud to be among student-athletes from across the ISG family of schools. Each time one of us stepped up to the edge of the pool, the cheers and support from teammates gave them confidence. Competing for a spot on the AP Race Swim Team pushed them to give their best effort, and they left the water with the satisfaction of knowing that they had tested themselves against high standards.

What stood out most was the encouragement Adam Peaty and his team gave to every swimmer. No matter what the students’ times were, they treated each of them with respect and provided feedback to help students improve. It was clear that they were not only looking for speed but also for determination and a willingness to grow. For many of the students, it was the first time swimming under the eye of an Olympic champion, and the experience is one they will carry with them for years.

Beyond the competition, the event taught our ISG Dammam swimmers the value of perseverance and teamwork. They realized that being part of ISG means more than just attending school; it means having opportunities to connect with others, share experiences and grow together. Going to the Dhahran swimming pool and joining students from different campuses reminded our leopards of the strength and unity within our school group. They felt like they were part of something bigger, something that will continue to shape their journeys long after this event.

The ISG Dammam swimmers are grateful to ASD for welcoming them, to ISG for making this possible and especially to Adam Peaty and the AP Race team for giving their time and wisdom. Walking away from the pool that day, the ISG Dammam students felt inspired not just as swimmers but as young people ready to chase their ambitions. Overall, the visit was more than a chance to compete. It was a reminder that with resilience, courage and the right mindset, we can rise above limits and reach for excellence.
