At ISG Jubail, elementary students recently took on the exciting challenge of becoming historians. They explored the lives of inspiring historical figures and discovered their surprising connections to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Students researched individuals from a wide range of fields, including scientists, activists, athletes and leaders who have made significant contributions to improving the world.
The research process was a deep dive, where students posed their own questions and used multiple resources to gather information. This allowed them to build independence and a thorough understanding of their chosen figures and their impact on society. After completing their research, students wrote biographical essays that detailed the lives of these figures and highlighted how their work contributed to a more sustainable future.
This project was much more than just a history lesson—it was a powerful experience that combined history, critical thinking, and global awareness. The students learned the value of research and the importance of working toward a sustainable future, making meaningful connections between the past and the UN's goals for a better world.
