Math Awards Ceremony Celebrates Students’ Achievements at ISG Jubail

At ISG Jubail, the annual Math Awards Ceremony is more than a celebration of academic success. It is a recognition of persistence and the sense of shared purpose that defines our school community. Students, teachers and families gathered to honor the accomplishments of learners who embraced mathematics not just as a subject, but as a way of thinking.

Throughout the year, students were encouraged to explore mathematical ideas with curiosity and confidence. Mrs. Nataraj, who leads the school’s math program and co-sponsors the STEAM Club, reflected on the journey.

“Witnessing your growth in confidence, creativity, and critical thinking has been incredibly rewarding,” she said. “To every student who participated, solved, struggled and persevered, you are the reason we celebrate today.”

The student-led Math Club played a key role in making this year’s math initiatives engaging and memorable. With guidance from student volunteers and the support of dedicated members, the club organized a variety of school-wide challenges, including Hallway Bingo and the Everyday Math Challenge. These activities encouraged students to see math in their daily lives and promoted a culture of collaborative problem-solving.

Math learning extended far beyond the classroom walls. Students took part in international competitions such as the American Mathematics Competitions (AMC 8, 10, and 12), MathCounts, the Gauss Contest, the American Scholastic Competitions, and the Math Premier League.

During the awards ceremony itself, the room was full of energy and enthusiasm. Students and teachers enjoyed raffle giveaways in between award segments, which added moments of lighthearted fun. It was lovely to see the love for math so clearly shared across the room. Everyone was engaged, celebrating individual achievements and the joy of learning together.

These opportunities brought students together in spirited, team-based contests that celebrated both mathematical thinking and collaboration. One standout initiative, the Everyday Math Challenge, drew over 1,000 entries from students, staff, and even parents, a testament to the widespread enthusiasm for mathematics across our community.

The awards ceremony itself was filled with excitement and pride. Raffle giveaways between award segments added lighthearted fun, while a lively math trivia competition run by Math Club members honored some of the brightest math minds at our school. It was heartwarming to witness a room full of students, teachers, and families united by a shared love for math and learning.

A high school student shared how math and science inspired her to explore beyond the classroom. “Before, I thought STEAM was just lab coats and coding,” she said. “Now I see how wide the field really is. So if you’re even a little curious, whether you're into science, technology, engineering, art or math, give STEAM Club a try. You might be surprised at how much you’ll get out of it.”

While the ceremony recognized individual achievement, it also reflected something deeper: the spirit of a school where curiosity is nurtured, effort is celebrated and learning is joyful.

Thank you to Mrs. Sarah, Mrs. Cays, the district team and all the dedicated teachers and staff who made this year’s math journey possible. And a special thank you to Mrs. Nataraj, whose energy and dedication continue to shape a thoughtful and joyful math culture at our school.

Let’s continue building a community where thinking is part of who we are and where every question leads to discovery.
