Phonics Mastery in the Elementary School

We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the recent elementary school phonics Mastery Celebration that lit up our school with enthusiasm and excitement!  Over the past weeks, our students have been immersed in the world of phonics, exploring phonogram blends, digraphs and expanding their vocabulary with new high-frequency words. Their dedication to mastering these fundamental skills has been truly inspiring.

To commemorate their achievements, we hosted a grand tournament of word games, where students showcased their phonics prowess in a series of engaging activities. From matching word parts to identifying contractions and sorting word components, the energy in the room was palpable as our young learners participated in games to put their skills to the test.

Games can help to make complex ideas and topics more interesting and meaningful, help students become independent and engaged learners and provide opportunities to practice problem solving and trial and error strategies.

Beyond the thrill of competition, this celebration was a testament to the hard work and determination of our students. Their commitment to mastering phonics concepts not only strengthens their literacy skills but also lays a solid foundation for their academic journey ahead.
