STEM Career Seminar

On Thursday, February 1, The National Honor Society and Math Club concluded math week by sponsoring a STEM seminar for all high school students.

Students were joined by two professionals who have built their careers through an interest and engagement in STEM. ISG parent Scott Gordon spoke about his path from university to his work as a patent attorney at Saudi Aramco. Hans Ott, Director of Teaching and Learning at ISG, spoke about professions in mathematics through his quote, “Mathematics is taught as language, applied as science, enjoyed as an art and is wrapped in history.”

We were also fortunate to have four returning alumni join us for a question and answer session: Zeyad Yasser, studying business informatics in the German University in Cairo, Mohammed Badr, majoring in computer engineering in the Cairo International University; Ahmed Tarek, studying medicine in the Ain Shams University; andAbdulrahman Hani studying computer engineering in the American University in Cairo.  ISG Dammam students were able to reflect and ask questions on what they could do today to work toward a career in STEM.

Thank you to our guest speakers Mr. Gordon and Mr. Ott, and to our alumni who make us proud every day.
