Fairy Tales Bring Young Storytellers Together at ISG Jubail
SHARE
Stories have a special way of bringing people together and lower elementary students at ISG Jubail recently celebrated storytelling through a special Celebration of Learning. After exploring fables, fairy tales, folktales and tall tales, students shared their favorite stories and the lessons they discovered along the way.
The celebration brought students together across classrooms, giving young storytellers a chance to share their work with peers and teachers. Lower elementary students also welcomed younger students from other classes to experience their learning and discover the stories that had captured their imaginations.
Students presented their favorite tales, illustrations and writing, explaining the lessons they had learned through the characters and their adventures. Their selections included The Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and The Fisherman and His Wife.
Sharing their work gave students an opportunity to practice speaking and listening while building confidence in expressing their ideas. Their illustrations and written pieces reflected the thought and creativity they brought to each story. Discussions about characters and their choices encouraged students to consider different perspectives and learn from one another.
The classrooms filled with enthusiastic conversations as students took pride in what they had learned. Welcoming visitors added another layer to the celebration, allowing students to explain their thinking and introduce younger learners to the lessons found in these familiar tales.
