Unity Day Celebrates the Meaning of Belonging at ISG Jubail

Unity can mean something different to everyone. At ISG Jubail, students and teachers came together to explore what it means to them, celebrating the connections that make their school community a place where everyone has a part to play.
For elementary students, the celebration began with a simple idea. Each student wrote their thoughts about unity on a piece of paper before joining it to a growing paper chain. As the individual pieces came together, they created one shared display filled with students’ own words and perspectives. Every link represented a different understanding of unity, connected through a common purpose.
Books and Beats offered another way for students and teachers to spend time together. Gathering in one room, they shared a reading session accompanied by cozy music, creating a welcoming space to enjoy books in the company of others. The celebration continued with dancing and karaoke, bringing plenty of energy to the day. Students and staff also came together for a school-wide photo dressed in orange, adding a shared visual expression to the occasion.
Middle and high school students explored the theme through a creative project of their own. Students contributed video clips from their classrooms to create a music video inspired by Unity Day and its message. Each contribution became part of a larger piece, connecting students across classrooms through a shared expression of what unity means to them.
Although the activities looked different across grade levels, each offered students a way to contribute their ideas and take part in something bigger than themselves. Whether adding a link to the paper chain, sharing a book or appearing in the music video, students helped shape a celebration that reflected their own voices.
