ASD’s Middle Schoolers Shine at The STEM Fair

Middle school students at American School Dhahran demonstrated creativity, critical thinking and scientific curiosity during this week’s STEM Fair, students showcased a wide range of projects exploring real-world problems and innovative solutions.

Working in collaborative groups, students tackled questions that spanned multiple scientific disciplines. Projects included Ready, Aim, Launch!, Straw Tower, Solar Oven, Quality Of Water And Plant Growth, Balloon-Powered Car, Bridge Engineering, The Colored Plants, Heat The Cheese, and Stretchy Slime, among others.

For their projects, students formed inquiry-based research questions, conducted hands-on experiments and analyzed data. This process allowed them to embrace the full scope of the scientific method.

Projects focused not only on science and engineering principles but also emphasized sustainability, innovation and the impact of science on daily life.

The fair provided students with an opportunity to showcase their research, strengthen their communication and problem-solving skills, and explore the work of their peers. Parents, faculty, and students from various grade levels attended the event, celebrating the creativity and effort of the young scientists. The event also underscored the value of STEM education and brought the school community together in support of student learning.

The Middle School STEM Fair continues to serve as a cornerstone of the academic calendar at American School Dhahran, encouraging a passion for inquiry and innovation while inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers.
