At ISG Dammam, leadership opportunities are offered to students from the earliest years, and this season has seen our elementary learners rise to the challenge.

The elections for Peers as Leaders (PAL) and the Elementary Student Council recently began with students preparing speeches that reflect their interests, ideas and hopes for their school community. Standing in front of classmates to share these thoughts requires courage and preparation, and our students embraced the opportunity with impressive enthusiasm.

After each candidate presented, classmates were given the responsibility of casting their votes. This process empowers students to think carefully about what qualities they want in their leaders. It teaches them the importance of making thoughtful decisions while also respecting the voices of their peers. The act of voting allows students to feel that their opinions carry weight, and the results reflect the collective trust of the community.

Elected members of PAL and the Student Council take on real responsibilities. They support school events, represent student voices and guide decisions that shape daily life on campus. This may include organizing spirit days like Pajama Day or planning elements of the International Day carnival. They also act as role models. Younger students see them as approachable figures who can offer support, friendship and understanding. The role extends beyond making choices for events. It is about being someone who listens, someone who stands up for classmates and someone who builds connections across grades.

The PAL program in particular emphasizes peer-to-peer guidance. Members learn to lead with empathy, understanding that the best leaders are those who lift others up. They encourage classmates and create a culture where every student feels valued. In many ways, PAL and the Student Council are not just leadership groups. They are a reflection of the trust that the school places in its students and the belief that young people can make meaningful contributions to the life of their community.

Through these elections, our elementary students are gaining early lessons in leadership, responsibility and collaboration. The school is proud to see them stepping forward with confidence, and we look forward to the positive impact they will have throughout the year.
