American School Dhahran (ASD) and British School Dhahran (BSD) welcomed Olympic gold medalist Anna Hopkin on Oct. 7. She visited both campuses throughout the day, providing a unique opportunity for students, staff and the community to engage with one of the world’s top swimmers.

Anna Hopkin (MBE) made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she won gold as part of the 4x100m freestyle relay team. She also represented England at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games and earned multiple gold medals at the 2021 European Championships. In 2023, Hopkin won gold in the 50m freestyle at the British Swimming Championships, securing her place for the 2024 Olympics.

Although she retired from competitive swimming in 2024, Hopkin remains actively involved in the sport, supporting young swimmers and athletes.

In addition to visiting both schools, Anna worked with the Swim Team after school during their training sessions at the pool.

The visit was a remarkable chance to celebrate athletic achievement and inspire students to pursue excellence in and out of the pool.
