On Oct. 28, 2025 American School Dhahran (ASD) high school Jazz Band struck all the right notes during a pop-up concert for middle school students this week.

Twenty-eight talented high school musicians took the stage to perform three jazz classics: Samba Derotta, Southern Charm and La Negra Tomasa. The performance featured two standout solos: an impromptu flute solo and an alto saxophone solo by one of ASD’s own, who was selected to represent the school at the 2024–25 AMIS Jazz Festival.

The concert created an energetic, uplifting atmosphere and gave middle school students a glimpse of the school’s vibrant performing arts program. Events like these showcase the creativity and talent of ASD’s students and serve as a bridge between grade levels, inspiring younger learners to explore the arts.

ASD’s jazz program is a collaborative experience that encourages creativity, discipline and confidence. Through opportunities such as performances and community events students gain valuable experience in teamwork and musical expression.

A heartfelt thank you goes to ASD music teacher Mr. Ned Fortescue for his continued support, mentorship and dedication to supporting musical excellence.

The ASD community can look forward to more performances soon, stay tuned for details on the next community concert.
