On January 8, American School Dhahran held its first Parent Teacher Group meeting of 2026, bringing together parents and faculty to strengthen collaboration and plan key community initiatives for the year ahead. The meeting highlighted ASD’s commitment to partnership, compassionate action and meaningful engagement across its school community.
During the session, attendees discussed several upcoming events, including the Custodian Iftar planned for Ramadan, an annual initiative that honors and celebrates ASD’s custodial team while encouraging gratitude and community connection. The group also previewed the annual Walk-A-Thon, held in partnership with British School Dhahran. The Walk-A-Thon unites students, families and staff in a shared effort to promote wellness in support of service-driven initiatives such as the Custodian Drive and Best Buddies, reinforcing ASD’s culture of empathy and inclusion.
The meeting concluded with a presentation by ASD High School Counselor Ms. Sanya Hunt, who led an insightful session titled Understanding Cross-Culture and Third Culture Kids. The presentation offered parents a deeper understanding of the experiences of children growing up in multicultural communities and provided strategies to support identity development, belonging and emotional wellbeing. By equipping families with tools to better navigate these experiences, the session reflected ASD’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the whole child and supporting students both academically and socially.
The inaugural PTG meeting of 2026 set a positive tone for the year ahead, highlighting the power of collaboration, shared values and a collective dedication to student growth and community wellbeing at American School Dhahran.
