A Cinematic Celebration of Learning at ISG Jubail Film Festival
SHARE
At ISG Jubail, elementary students spent the year learning about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a lens of curiosity and care. With time spent reading, discussing and reflecting, students built a strong understanding of some of the world's most urgent challenges. They considered how individuals, including young people, can take meaningful action to support a more just and sustainable future.
This learning journey led them to the world of realistic fiction. Students wrote thoughtful, imaginative stories that reflected the SDG topics they had explored. Their characters and plotlines were grounded in real-world issues, giving voice to concerns and hopes that matter deeply to them.
The creative process didn’t stop on the page. Students brought their stories to life by transforming them into short films. Every step, from scriptwriting and storyboarding to filming, acting, editing and even composing original music, was led by the students themselves. Their commitment was evident in every frame.
In celebration, the community gathered for a film festival held at a local cinema. The room was filled with student artwork and original movie posters, creating the atmosphere of a real theatre experience. Friends, families and teachers came together to watch the films and hear directly from each student about the journey behind their project and the message at its heart. As a final surprise, audiences enjoyed a compilation of funny bloopers that gave everyone a chance to laugh and reflect on the joy behind the hard work.
This event marked a special moment in the school year, filled with pride and emotion. It was a chance for students to share what they learned, how they grew and what kind of world they hope to help build.
Thank you to Mr. Graham Laing, Mrs. Jayshree Padaychee and Mrs. Komali Abbineni for their guidance throughout every stage of this meaningful work. Their dedication helped create an experience that students will carry with them for years to come.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the ISG Jubail staff who stepped into roles on screen and helped bring student stories to life with humor and incredible spirit. Their involvement made the event even more special and reminded students that storytelling is a shared experience.
