American School Dhahran’s ES Music & Art Show was a vibrant celebration of talent, teamwork and creativity, as 215 of our students took center stage to showcase their musical and artistic abilities. The event brought together families, friends, and teachers, all eager to cheer on the students who put their heart and soul into their performances.
The music portion of the show featured students playing a variety of instruments, including the ukulele, flute, violin, drums and xylophone. The students captivated the audience with folk songs from around the world, representing countries such as Saudi Arabia, France, Japan, Korea, Canada, West Africa, the Philippines and Mexico. One of the evening’s most memorable moments came during an energetic performance of "We Will Rock You." The crowd—students, parents and teachers—joined in, creating a powerful and unifying moment of fun and excitement.
In the art portion, students from various elementary grades explored the theme "Around the World," expressing their creativity in unique and meaningful ways. A standout project, "Where Are You From?" challenged students to examine global cultures by drawing cultural elements from a country of their choice. The artwork featured iconic foods, traditional clothing, landmarks and flags—all thoughtfully displayed within the profile of a boy or girl’s face. This project encouraged students to engage with cultural awareness and artistic expression.
Another inspiring project, "Reading About The World," had students research cultural elements such as food, clothing and landmarks, which they then incorporated into 3D portraits holding a magazine or newspaper from their chosen country. Through this project, students honed their artistic skills and deepened their understanding of cultural diversity, while creating visually engaging representations of their findings.
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated teachers—Ms. Lauren Cole, Ms. Hadeer El Tahtawi, and Ms. Zeina Jreije—for their hard work, passion and support in making this event such a resounding success. Their commitment to fostering creativity and cultural awareness in our students is truly appreciated.
