ISG Jubail Elementary Field Trip Explores Economics and Community Connections
SHARE
Lower elementary students at ISG Jubail recently took part in a field trip that brought classroom learning to life through visits to a local market and bakery. The experience helped students better understand how businesses serve their communities, while deepening their grasp of key economic concepts in a fun, real-world setting.
Accompanied by their teachers, students observed the daily work of bakers, cashiers and shopkeepers. They learned about the different roles involved in running a business and saw how teamwork is essential to making things run smoothly. In the bakery, students watched fresh pizzas being prepared and began to connect what they learned in class with what they saw in the real world.
For one group, the focus was on needs and wants, goods and services and who in the community provides what people use every day. They explored the market with curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and noticing the many ways people contribute to daily life.
The other group dug deeper into the ideas of producers and consumers. They explored how businesses decide what to sell, how to price their goods and how they meet the needs of customers. The students began to think like small entrepreneurs, considering the choices that go into building a successful business.
Throughout the trip, students developed a greater appreciation for the people behind the scenes who help meet the needs of a community. Whether watching a baker at work or speaking with a shopkeeper, they saw how goods and services connect people and support everyday life.
This experience was more than a lesson in economics. It was a chance for students to engage with the world around them, ask questions and reflect on the value of cooperation, service and thoughtful decision-making. These moments help strengthen the bond between classroom and community, reminding students that learning happens in many places and through many voices.
ISG Jubail is grateful to the local businesses who welcomed our students and to the teachers and families who helped make this trip meaningful.
