Schlumberger Hosts Internet Safety Workshop for BSD Senior Students

As part of an important initiative to promote digital awareness and responsibility, British School Dhahran senior students recently participated in an Internet safety workshop delivered by SLB, a global leader in technological innovation. The session focused on the growing development of new technology threats and how these changes are increasingly impacting our personal security and privacy.

The workshop provided students with an in-depth understanding of the risks posed by today’s digital environment, including data privacy, online behavior and the influence of social media. SLB's team offered practical strategies for safer online practices, making the session highly relevant and engaging for students navigating a tech-driven world.

This initiative was made possible thanks to SLB’s community outreach segment, which focuses on supporting health and safety education for youth. Special credit goes to Mrs. Maha Sousak for facilitating this collaboration. Drawing from her previous experience as a board member and Middle East Area Coordinator for the SLB Spouse Association, Mrs. Sousak has long been involved in connecting the company’s resources with local communities. In fact, she first organized a similar session at BSD in 2018 for Year 5 students. Now, with her continued efforts, this valuable initiative is being resumed, starting once again with BSD and planned to extend across ISG schools.

Students who attended the workshop also received certificates and small gifts, recognizing their participation and reinforcing the importance of the session.

Please note that another session will be held on Sunday, May 25, at the same time, for the remaining students in Year 9 and Year 10. This ensures that all senior students have the opportunity to benefit from this important programme.

Looking ahead, BSD plans to expand this initiative further by launching a personal safety session for primary students at the start of the next academic year, with the goal of eventually reaching all ISG schools.

This workshop marks a meaningful step in building student awareness around digital and personal safety and highlights the value of school community partnerships in educating and empowering youth.
