This week marked the first session of ISG Jubail's Wellness Club, offering students a peaceful and therapeutic environment to unwind after a long day of learning. Led by Ms. Madiha Qamar, the club provides a serene space where students can explore the art of clay pottery and mosaics, with a focus on mindfulness and compassion. The Wellness Club aims to foster a sense of community through creative expression, allowing students to relax and connect with art in a calming, pressure-free environment.
In the first session, students were introduced to the basics of clay pottery, emphasizing the importance of grounding oneself and being present in the moment. Through tactile, hands-on experiences, students connected with art using all of their senses, making the process not just creative but also meditative. As the club continues, each session will feature a different art form, with clay and mosaic work being central to the curriculum.
The Wellness Club is open to middle and high school students. The focus on hand-building techniques and working with clay on the pottery wheel offers a calming, therapeutic experience that helps students relax and de-stress at the end of a busy school day. Through these sessions, ISG Jubail hopes to make art a soothing and rejuvenating experience for all participants.
