Bringing Stories to Life With ISG Jubail’s Lower Elementary Students

Lower elementary students at ISG Jubail recently brought stories to life in a joyful and memorable Readers Theatre performance. With handmade costumes, expressive acting and beautiful singing, the students transformed well-loved tales into engaging, live experiences for their audience.

Readers Theatre is a dynamic strategy that combines reading practice with performance, allowing students to demonstrate their fluency, expression and accuracy in a meaningful and engaging way. By reading scripts aloud in small groups, students gain confidence and purpose in their reading, bringing words on a page to life with lively characters, sounds and actions.

The narrators and all the readers were especially impressive. Their storytelling was immersive and captivating, making it easy for the audience to visualize each scene. Their ability to read with expression and confidence truly stood out, and their passion for reading was felt in every line they delivered.

This production was a true celebration of collaboration across the arts. For the second year, Ms. Melek Demir, our music teacher, enriched the performance by guiding students in singing songs that complemented the stories and featured student solos.

This year, we were also excited to collaborate with Ms. Sara, our Arabic teacher, who introduced Arabic songs into the program, connecting students’ language learning to the stage and celebrating their growing skills in Arabic. To bring it all together visually, Ms. Shereen supported the students in creating and displaying their beautiful artwork throughout the music room and hallways, transforming the performance space into a gallery of creativity.

This collaborative effort truly highlighted the talents of our elementary students and the dedication of our specialist teachers. By weaving together reading, music, Arabic and art, our Readers Theatre became a celebration of language, creativity and community.

The performance featured energetic pom-pom dances, heartfelt songs. The event concluded with a talent show, where students shared their individual passions and skills with the community.

Performing for an audience takes both courage and creativity. Our students showed incredible heart and enthusiasm, and their efforts left everyone inspired and uplifted.

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the teachers who guided and supported the students throughout this experience. Their dedication helped make the event a special celebration of learning and community.
