Reception

In reception, students follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum where they cover the the following learning areas:

• Communication and language.
• Personal, social and emotional development.
• Physical development.
• Literacy.
• Mathematics.
• Understanding the world.
• Expressive arts and design.

By the end of the year, all students must demonstrate that they have achieved the early learning goals in each of these areas.

At SVS, students learn through exploration, games and play. Opportunities for students to develop their agency and responsibility are embedded into the teaching and learning at the school, providing all students with a solid foundation for Key Stage 1 and beyond.
