RECOGNIZING PRINCIPAL MICHAEL SCHREIDER

ISG would like to recognise and celebrate ISG Dammam Principal, Michael Schreider, for two recent achievements he has received as an educational leader.  The first was for Mentor of the Year Award at the prestigious KSA Forttuna Global Excellence Awards, a global platform to recognize individuals and organizations that excel in their industries. This award highlights his unwavering dedication to mentorship and leadership in the international education sector. Michael’s recognition is a testament to his recognized ability to inspire and cultivate potential in others.

In his acceptance speech, Michael cited Adam Grant, saying, “A mentor's success lies not in spotting talent, but in cultivating it.” This philosophy is centered on the authentic connections that empower others to realize their full potential. These words resonate with the values of ISG and the broader educational community.

For his second recognition, Michael Schreider has also been appointed as a Board Member of the Academy of International School Heads (AISH). Founded in 1999, AISH is a professional organization committed to empowering international school leaders. Michael is one of four newly appointed board members where he will contribute through his two decades of expertise, a passion for lifelong learning and an innovative approach to mentorship.

Michael Schreider as an educational leader is committed to academic excellence as well as innovation and inclusivity. His leadership has impacted countless individuals, unlocking hidden potential and inspiring greatness. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Michael on these honors and look forward to the continued impact of his leadership on the global stage.

RECRUITMENT UPDATE - WHAT MAKES ISG DIFFERENT

At ISG, we are fortunate to have an average tenure for staff ranging from 5 to 7 years.  This average is strong for an international school where a transient lifestyle is common with a larger number of individuals within our community.  ISG is fortunate to attract and retain quality staff who contribute at a high level and enjoy being a part of the learning community on our campuses.

Each year individuals consider whether they are ready to move to another opportunity, whether locally or internationally. When ISG has a resignation, we have a designed recruiting strategy based on the position and the category of employment.  Our strategic approach to recruiting ensures that we find the best-match staff for our school community whose values and beliefs align with our guiding principles.

We advertise locally, regionally and internationally to ensure the broadest awareness from a high quality pool of candidates.  ISG is seeking to find highly qualified individuals whose experiences and education allow them to engage and contribute right away. The applicants who are the best match are those who believe in our guiding principles and who are interested in being a part of an English speaking environment that values cultural diversity.

What do candidates value when they see ISG as a potential employer?  ISG is viewed as an employer who provides a professional, inclusive and collaborative working environment where individuals can contribute, grow and learn.  Also important, is that ISG provides an equitable and fair compensation package for the positions we have in our school.

Please monitor our website to learn more about open positions.

ISG’S COMMITMENT TO STEWARDSHIP & SUSTAINABILITY

At ISG, stewardship and sustainability are integral to our mission, aligning with the KSA 2030 Vision and fostering awareness of pressing, worldwide environmental challenges. Through a combination of community commitment and outreach and curriculum incorporation, we empower students to become environmentally conscious leaders.

Our schools actively promote sustainable practices, ensuring all learners understand their role in achieving global and local sustainability goals. With the support of Eco Councils and innovative teaching strategies, students engage in meaningful projects that address issues like waste reduction, conservation and renewable energy.

Our commitment extends beyond the classroom through strategic external relations partnerships and the ISG operations team coordinating sustainability projects. By working with leading organizations and aligning with accreditations that emphasize sustainability such as The Alliance for Sustainable Schools (TASS) at SVS, ISG fosters impactful collaboration.

These partnerships amplify the impact of our sustainability efforts and connect students to real-world opportunities for action. Whether through hosting events, engaging in environmental initiatives, or forming strategic alliances, ISG ensures that sustainability remains at the forefront of its mission, preparing students to contribute meaningfully to a more sustainable world.

FOOD SERVICES SURVEY FEEDBACK

Food service at ISG campuses is varied depending upon the location and we want to ensure that we have appropriate services in place for all students where possible.  ISG views food service as an integral part of providing sustenance for students during their learning day and their after school activities.

To support this commitment, in September, the Operations team created and shared food services and catering surveys with the students at ASD, BSD, ISG Dammam and ISG Jubail, in order to collect feedback from the students on their views of the current food offerings on their respective campuses. In addition to student views, the Operations team was also looking for areas of improvement to better meet the desires of our students.

After receiving hundreds of survey responses, Ms. Norris and Mr. Bearns asked each of the principals to share the results of these surveys with the Superintendent Student Advisory Committee (SSAC) at each of our campuses.  The SSAC group members at each campus reviewed the survey results and began to formulate suggestions for consideration to support improved food service on their campuses.

The final step in the survey process was for Ms. Norris and Mr. Bearns to visit each of the sites to meet with the SSAC to review the data together, to gather further insights on the data, and to discuss suggestions for improvements to address the areas identified in the survey data. This provided our students with a unique opportunity to assess and evaluate large quantities of data feedback and collaboratively develop improvements to put into an action plan.

From these meetings, the Operations team has begun to take actionable steps in the following areas:

  • Identify a plan for improved food service in terms of time and quantity provided for those campuses with existing food service operations.
  • Identify equipment and additional resources along with a plan to be installed to provide new food service operations or to enhance existing food service operations.
  • Collaborate with the existing food service providers on improved offerings.
  • Develop plans for gathering specific feedback on food offerings on each campus.
  • Discuss feedback on schedule and timings for food service operations on campus with the ISG leadership team.

Next steps are to finalize a project plan for food services on all ISG campuses with the implementation of changes starting this school year as possible and the implementation of other plans for the start of the next school year.

We appreciate the feedback from students on this important aspect of daily school life on ISG campuses as well as the additional engagement by the SSAC for finding proposed solutions.  We look forward to sharing the developments in food service operations over the upcoming months.

SAIKAC SWIM TRIALS

We would like to congratulate all swimmers who participated in the recent SAIKAC Time Trial event! It is wonderful to see so many of our athletes from ASD, BSD, ISG Dammam and SVS compete at a high level, and showcase their hard work and dedication.

The event was an opportunity for swimmers to test their skills and set personal bests, and it was wonderful to see seasoned competitors and emerging talents give their best effort at the swim trials.

Our swimmers are preparing for the SAIKAC Swim tournament in 2025, and their recorded times will be shared with the organizing committee in preparation for the event.

Last year, ISG hosted the SAIKAC Swim tournament, and this will be our first time selecting a team of swimmers to represent ISG at the 2025 tournament.

ISG WELCOMES DOUBLE WORLD AND OLYMPIC CHAMPION, MATT RICHARDS

We were thrilled to welcome double World and Olympic Champion Matt Richards to the ISG pool on Wednesday for an unforgettable training session.

During the event, Matt conducted his regular training session while students and parents observed from the sidelines. With Coach AJ from the AP Race Swimming Academy guiding the session, students gained valuable insights into the techniques and skills that have propelled Matt to the top of the sport. Coach AJ highlighted the critical role of perfecting technique and maintaining consistency, inspiring students to focus on these essential elements in their own training.

Students also had the unique chance to engage directly with Matt, asking him questions about his training routine, his career journey and tips for improving speed in the water. They even had the extraordinary opportunity to see Matt’s Olympic and World Championship medals up close and to race alongside him in the pool.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience offered our student-athletes an incredible source of inspiration. It highlighted the power of commitment, hard work and perseverance. We hope their interactions with Matt will motivate them to pursue their own dreams with the same passion and dedication.
